Ortus House, BamptonAbout this home

Built in 2019 to an incredibly high standard by the current owners, Ortus House is located on the edge of the popular village of Bampton. This magnificent country home constructed from Cotswold stone has been elegantly combined with large, glazed areas to create a highly attractive modern family home. With high vaulted ceilings throughout and solid oak vintage parquet flooring coupled with tumbled limestone tiles, the attention to detail really is second to none.

The accommodation throughout is generous with space, height and light in abundance. With its grand reception hall, Ortus House has a warm and inviting feel and is perfectly suited to modern day living.

The show stopping, open plan kitchen/breakfast room/dining room is very much the heart of the home and is not only superb for those who are keen on cooking but it offers a perfect space to dine and entertain.

The stylish, bespoke kitchen/breakfast room is of the highest quality and includes Caesarstone worktop & splashback with feature shelf.

The owner who designed the house is an architect and has a real design flair and an eye for detail, the result being this much loved home.

Bi-folding doors open onto a terrace creating a seamless link between the inside and out. The terrace is a wonderful space for those who enjoy outside dining and entertaining.

The five bedroom, four bath/shower room (of which three are en suite) layout on the first and ground floor makes for comfortable family living.

The accommodation flows well and offers a great deal of versatility, there is a bedroom / office  on the ground floor, perfect for those who have a requirement to work from home.

There is a stone outbuilding in the garden which is currently used for storage but could be converted into a home office or gym with the correct permissions.

The surrounding countryside is breath-taking and is perfect for those who enjoy walking, riding and cycling to name some of the activities on offer.

The AreaBampton

The ancient market town of Bampton lies just south of the Cotswolds. Until about 1850, it stood in the centre of a large area of common land, hence its previous name of ‘Bampton in the Bush’. Bampton is sometimes described as a town, because it used to be a market town until the 19th century. It is now officially designated a village but has both Town and Village Halls.

The neighbouring village of Clanfield is home to The Double Red Duke, a picturesque, 16th-century hotel and pub which is stylish yet informal with its cosy log fires, good food using local produce, and a garden with terrace for al fresco dining.

Located in the Thames Valley 4.5 miles south west of Witney and 6 miles from the well-known Cotswold market town of Burford. The town has many pleasant 17th and 18th century houses a few inns and useful stores. Bampton is one of the oldest towns in England.

The larger, and more widely known Burford is only 8 miles north of Ortus House. The famous High Street sweeps downhill towards the River Windrush, its medieval bridge and its impressive church. Both sides of the street are flanked by an unbroken line of historic houses and shops.

With little having changed over the centuries, Burford is popular with visitors, both for its beauty and history but also for its shopping and wide variety of places to eat, with a number of restaurants, pubs and teashops. Burford is equidistant between the popular towns of Cheltenham and Oxford, both offering extensive shopping, dining options, pubs and facilities.

There are a number of state and private schools in the area, most notably; St Hugh’s and Pinewood to name just two. Road communications are fantastic to the A40 which in turn provides access the M40 to London, and the M5 to the west.
