The WarrenAbout this home
Located on the edge of the popular village of Aldsworth, The Warren is a beautifully converted, attached barn. Dating back to the 17th Century, the conversion was completed in 2014, the end result being the most wonderful home that demonstrates a perfect balance of contemporary and traditional living, completed to the highest of standards with an attention to detail rarely seen. Flooded with natural light, thanks to the large glazed areas, The Warren offers space, height and light in abundance. A huge amount of character has been retained, yet the large reception rooms suit modern day living. The walled garden wraps around the property and it’s clear that a great deal of time and effort has gone into creating such well-established space. There is a large driveway with parking for a number of cars.
There are a number of key highlights to living at this wonderful property. The main ones are:
The stylish, bespoke kitchen/breakfast room is of the highest quality and includes integrated appliances from top brands such as Gaggenau.
The owner has a real design flair and an eye for detail, the result being this much loved home.
Bi-folding doors open off the dining rooms onto a terrace, creating a seamless link between the inside and out. The terrace is a wonderful space for those who enjoy outside dining and entertaining.
The four bedroom, four bath/shower rooms, arranged over the first floor and second floor, makes for comfortable family living. All of the bedrooms are ensuite, yet the principle also has a walk in wardrobe.
As well as the large driveway, there is double garage that provides further parking and a lean to offering storage.
The gardens, mostly laid to lawn, are interspersed with a variety of trees and shrubs as well as well-established flower beds which are full of colour throughout the summer months.
The surrounding countryside is breath-taking and is perfect for those who enjoy walking, riding and cycling to name some of the activities on offer.
The AreaAldsworth
Aldsworth is a vibrant village, set in the beautiful Cotswold countryside. It has the attractive St Bartholomew’s Church, a traditional Village Hall and is home to the gastro pub, The Sherborn Arms, which has been in the village since 1799. Only 6.5 miles to the east, Burford’s famous High Street sweeps downhill towards the River Windrush, its medieval bridge and its impressive church, both sides of the street flanked by an unbroken line of historic houses and shops. Little has changed over the centuries. Burford is popular with visitors, both for its beauty and history but also for its shopping and wide variety of places to eat, with a number of restaurants, pubs and teashops.
Cirencester, known as the Capital of the Cotswolds, is only 11 miles to the west and is a lovely market town with a fascinating history. In Roman times, Cirencester, known as ‘Corinium Dobunnorum’, was the second largest town only to London. The town became a very prosperous wool town in the medieval period, which is the basis for the charming town with ancient honey coloured stone buildings in picturesque narrow streets.
The Market Place is the heart of the town and is home to a Charter Market (every Monday and Friday) and a Farmers’ Market (every 2nd and 4th Saturday of the month).
The wonderful variety of quality independent shops makes shopping in Cirencester a delight. Enjoy exploring the courtyards with their individual style, and the many historic streets radiating from the town centre. Cirencester is renowned for its very special shops, individual boutiques, fascinating antique emporiums and craft shops as well as national chain stores. For more comprehensive shopping and recreational needs. Aldsworth is equidistant between Cheltenham and Oxford, both offering extensive shopping, dining options, pubs and facilities.
There are a number of state and private schools in the area, with schools in Burford, Bourton-on-the-Water, Kingham and Cokethorpe, along with the Oxford schools including the Dragon School, Magdalen College School and St. Edwards School. There are a host of others nearby including St Hughes Prep School, Hatherop Castle School along with Cheltenham Ladies’ College, Cheltenham College and Dean Close in Cheltenham. Road communications are fantastic to the A40 which in turn provides access to the M40 to London, and the M5 to the west.
